What is coincidence error and how is it determined?
Coincidence error is the most significant source of error in particle counting and can result in both size and count errors. It occurs when two or more particles are present in the sensing zone at the same time resulting in multiple particles being ‘seen’ as one larger particle. To avoid this, samples with higher concentrations must be diluted to achieve a concentration low enough for counting.
